Vidamore is co-organising the "Open Innovation Days for Airlines and Airports" (OIDAA). The days aim to share ideas, contribute knowledge on developments, trigger innovation, bring people together, initiate joint projects, and help the aviation industry reinvent itself. Why?The aviation industry feels the effects of economic growth as no other. Many airlines (and so their partners and suppliers) are draining their cash reserves, due to falling demand and rising fuel prices. In the past, airlines and airports focussing on innovation, also in weaker times, created stronger companies. These days innovation is considered a mindset rather than just a lucky "invention", and are the result of smart cooperation between partners. Also, in these economic times call for risk-sharing and benefit sharing. The digital revolution brings companies and individuals truly close.
The Open Innovation Days are held online to save on (travel) costs and time, and have both real-time and non-real-time sessions. You can contribute to discussions when you have time for and a convenient location. The webinars are real-time, but will be scheduled at a time that most people don't consider "in the middle of the night" in their time zone. What?A series of online webinars, supported by an interactive website for questions, discussions, ideas, and comments. The viability of an in-person "Open Innovation for Airlines and airports" summit will be discussed in the coming weeks. Typical themes for discussion may be: sustainable processes throughout the organisation, mobile applications, seemless travel process, and continuous innovation. When? The Innovation Days for Aviation will be held between: 22 february - 5 march 2010. The exact program is to be build up over the coming months. For whom? For business managers in airlines, airports, airframe builders, technology providers, aviation / travel consultants, venture capital scouts, innovation managers, students and others. By whom?By thought leaders, by innovators, in short, by you. The content and facilitation of the specific themes will be provided by contributors from the industry. Of course, the quality of discussions and number of ideas depends on the number of contributions. So, what you get out of it, is also dependent on what you put in it. Cost / admissability?OIDA aims to be as low-cost as possible for the attendees. However, some cost for communication tools, hosting, and other services is expected and we are looking for sponsoring. More information will follow shortly. Admission to the website and webinars will be granted to pre-registered professionals or students only. A valid e-mail address will be needed to enroll. How to contribute?OIDA is still in its early organisational stages. Currently we need: - Coordinators - for the enrollments, website content, for a part of the program
- Speakers - willing to speak at a webinar on a specific subject
- Contributors - of innovative ideas, technologies, interesting content
- Sponsors - willing to sponsor cash or services for communication, website (design), marketing/mailing
