In this article (Daily Mail) an aircraft interior design is shown by the company design Q in which the passengers face each other in commercial airliners. More companies are playing around with aircraft seating design, to be able to transport more passengers in the same space. 

The design company aimed at flights of under 80 minutes due to the lesser comfort of the chairs (basically the design shows there is no back support, the passengers lean back to the inner-hull of the aircraft or some support in the middle).
